How to Grow Winter Vegetables
Winter vegetables we can plant already at the end of the summer, early autumn, September - October.
Maturation of winter vegetables is in October-November-December and the harvest is in the winter.
Fall season is a wonderful season for new planting and for general garden chores.
Times when the supermarkets offering frozen vegetables, tomatoes in the winter and oranges in the summer, this is very important to show the younger generation the way that makes a soft vegetable seed to the dinner table.
One of the greatest pleasures for the amateur gardener is to harvest fresh and tasty vegetables from the garden.
There is no need a big garden to grow winter vegetables, some can grow planters or flowerpots, or in a very small garden, as long as we'll be sure about the rules for each growth.
So, what winter vegetables we should plant and prefer to sow...?
There are Winter Vegetables that are easy to start the growth by sowing: like radishes, carrots, peas, beet leaves, fennel, parsley and more.
In small gardens, it is better to start growth of certain vegetables from implants and not from seeds; we can save the germination time and keep the unity of seedlings.
Select a suitable area - choose the area with full sun. Preferably not nearby higher plants, that can cast a shadow on the bed of plants; ground should be well drained and clean from weeds.
plan the location of plants - low plants (cabbage, lettuce) we plant on the south side of the bed higher plants (cauliflower, broccoli) on the north side in this manner will benefit all plants Calendar sun hours.
to improve the soil ¡V Per each square meter need to disperse a compost bucket (10 liters), We'll put the compost with a shovel to a depth of 20 cm.
The recommended bed planting -
is one meter wide at a height of 15 cm; between the grow beds separate path across the width of 40-50 cm. The edge of the flower bed can be stabilized with boards or by creating sloped walls.

The Seedlings -
When planting winter vegetables, make sure that the ground is moist (but not muddy), Root growth would be damp. When we plant the depth of the plant would be in line with the ground.
Planting Depth -
Cover the seeds with a layer of soil thickness of twice the size of the seed. Then gently water to prevent erosion. (Also preferably to water before sowing)
The soil -
soil that properly prepared, usually do not need to add fertilizer during growth. Who is not in favor of organic farming, chemical fertilizer Can be add in a, according to the recommended dosage. Cultivation ¡V During the growth, need to cultivate around the seedlings to air the soil and prevent weeds.
Irrigation -
- We all look forward to greeting the winter rains, but we must not forget in times of rain breaks should be additional irrigation. You can check the ground and if it seems dry, then water it, because the soft Seedlings / sprouts need constant moisture.
Proper treatment of seedlings -
will prevent most of diseases. If the plant still seized pest or disease - Do not to run and buy toxic pesticides! - There are environmentally friendly natural materials like Fladium, Zoharnat and Juices of garlic - they are effective against pests and diseases.
Humus -
In my vegetables garden I used a material named "HUMUS", It is similar to the use of compost, but less burning and allows better germination of vegetables seeds; it provides the plant the food he needs and restores the ability to increase ground platform to enter the plants;
It is a natural product, with good water solubility, slow dissolution and cleans of seeds; can be obtain in any local plants nursery.
Plant in the same plot of land - There are important rules to whom that plant for several years on the same piece of land.
To prevent the transfer of pests and diseases to the ground from year to year do not grow vegetables from the same family, but change the location of growth.
For example:
If you plant this year, in your flowerbed plant cabbage, which belongs to the Crucifer family.
In the next year do not plant in the same flowerbed, radishes, broccoli or cauliflower, which also belong to the Crucifer family.
Saw in the same flowerbed pea (recommended and tasty) belongs to the Faboideae family or carrot belongs to the umbels family.
Finally, consider how easily we can make our leisure hours to a quality time of original work, production of clean and tasty foods, impressive look of the house and your garden and most of all the great pleasure :) :) :)
